Christopher Foster to take on CDF 10K to raise awareness and funds for Kidney Wales
Christopher Foster will be lacing up his trainers at the historic CDF 10K this year to support his wife who is suffering from renal failure. He has signed up run to this year’s race in order to raise funds and awareness for lead charity partner, Kidney Wales.
Christopher, who lives with his wife Sarah, in Chepstow, Monmouthshire is preparing to take part in the Cardiff 10K, with the aim of raising vital funds for Kidney Wales, who supports thousands of kidney patients across Wales.
In 2016, Sara’s health started to decline rapidly. Previously, Sarah was a cleaner in the leisure department of the Marriott St Pierre hotel, but has since had to give up work due to her condition.
In 2017, Shortly after her health started to decline rapidly, Sarah started dialysis treatment at the unit in Newport 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) for up to 6 hours per session. At this time Sarah was put on the transplant waiting list to receive a new kidney. On the 4th of June 2021, Sarah received her long awaited kidney transplant.
Speaking of his wife’s approach to her condition, husband Christopher said: “Sarah has had so much to take in over the years, but her strength has never wavered. Her positive attitude and love for life makes her an inspiration to me.”
Chris has witnessed first hand the great work Kidney Wales does to support kidney patients across the country, and the Cardiff 10K is a favourite event of his as he knows it helps a charity that holds a special place in their hearts! This year will be his 4th Cardiff 10K race, but he has taken part in many others across the country.
Chris said: “The support they provide families like ours across Wales is invaluable and it’s a privilege to be able to do something to support this amazing cause. I’m running for Kidney Wales to not only raise vital funds, but also to raise awareness of the impact kidney disease can have on people like Sarah.”
Entries to join Christopher and the team at Kidney Wales at this year’s CDF 10K are still open! Do something special this year and help support patients and the families of those living with kidney disease.
