10K runners set for 40th anniversary of Kidney Wales CDF 10K
The biggest ever Kidney Wales CDF 10K will take place on Sunday 6 September with more than 10,000 people signed up to celebrate the event’s 40th anniversary.
This will be the largest ever edition of the event since it was founded in 1986 and now finds itself as one of the most popular 10K events in the UK.
Run 4 Wales took over the event delivery of the CDF 10K in 2023 and since then the race has seen remarkable growth all while increasing its community and social impact and keeping Kidney Wales as the event’s lead charity.
Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised for Kidney Wales over the years – with almost £200,000 in the last five years alone, and this year sees the charity become headline sponsor in a nod to the event’s roots when it was first set up by Kidney Wales.
Around 190,000 people have taken part in the race since it first began, with 2026 expected to have its largest ever number of finishers. Among those are 192 participants who will also be celebrating their 40th birthday alongside the event.
To mark the milestone this year’s CDF 10K will look back to the 80s and everyone is encouraged to dress up for the occasion. Runners can expect to experience 1980s music at the start and played via the live course entertainment around the route and they can expect to receive a retro finishers medal and t-shirt once they cross the finish line.
Alongside Kidney Wales, the event’s other partners – High5, Brecon Carreg, Kilted Dragon, Transport for Wales, Scimitar Sports and Waterton Motor Group will also be joining in with the celebrations on race day.
