Race FAQs

Q. How old must I be to enter the Cardiff 10k?

A. 10K entrants must be 15 years or older on the day of the race. Younger runners can take part in the 2K Fun Run.

Q. When do entries close?

A. Entries for the Cardiff 10K will close at 23:59 on 19th August 2022, unless the race is already sold out.

Q. Can I have a refund if I can’t run?

A. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds. This is due to the costs associated in the preparation and planning of the event.

Q. Can I defer my entry to next year’s race?

A. Yes, you can defer your entry. Deferment can occur once and must be into the subsequent event. A refund will not be given and the guaranteed place into the following year’s event will be subject to the standard entry fee. You will need to defer your entry by Friday 3rd June 2022. Once withdrawn, your entry cannot be reinstated. You will be required to “claim” your deferral into the following year’s race, failure to do so will result in loss of your entry.

Q. Am I able to transfer my place to someone else?

A. Yes – Your entry into the Event is transferable, meaning that another person can compete in the Event under your competitor number in your place should you wish to Transfer. No refund will be made and there is a minimum charge of at least £10 (Plus admin charges) to be paid by the transferee. The deadline to transfer is midnight on 30th April 2022. Just head to your Realbuzz Members Hub to transfer your entry.

In the event you are found to have transferred your race entry to another person, without following the event procedure, your number will be disqualified from the race and jeopardise entry at future races.

Q. Am I able to transfer my place to another Front Runner Event?

A. Yes – You are able to transfer your entry into another Front Runner Event, you will not be subject to a fee and you will not receive a refund of any difference of entry cost. All transfers can be done via your Realbuzz Members Hub. All transfers must be made no later than 3rd June 2022 (to move to Swansea Half) and no later than 31st July 2022 (to move to Llanelli Half).

Q. What is the start time and location of the race?

A. The 2K race starts at 9.15 am, the 10K race starts at 10 am. Both races start on King Edward VII Avenue (CF10 3NN) and finish on Museum Avenue (CF10 3AX). The race village is at City Hall Lawn outside Cardiff’s City Hall (CF10 3ND).

Q. Is there a baggage area?

A. Yes, there will be a bag drop.

Q. Will water be available on the course?

A. Yes, there will be a water stop on route and at the Finish.

Q. What’s in my race pack?

A. Race packs will be sent out to all participants 2 weeks before the race. Your race pack contains your race number with an integrated timing chip and your race day information along with safety pins.

Q. Can I register on the day?

A. No – there will be no entry or registration on the day for either the 2K or 10K race.

Q. Is there a cut off time for runners?

A. You must complete the 2K within 30 mins and the 10K within 2 hours.

Q. Are there toilets on the course?

A. Yes, there will be toilets located throughout the course.

Q. I don’t live in Cardiff and don’t know the route, is the route fully sign posted and marshalled?

A. Yes, there will be signage and marshals throughout ensuring you stay on the correct route.

Q. Should I suffer an injury on race day, what support is available? 

A.  Professional medical staff will be available at the Start/Finish line and along the course should you face difficulties.

Q. Can I wear headphones?

A.  We do not actively promote the wearing of headphones however should you wish to do so please wear one ear bud to allow you to listen to all race briefing information and be aware of others around you.

Q. Can I raise money for my chosen charity?

A.  Yes, our Platinum Charity partner is Kidney Wales however, if you want raise funds for a different charity you will need to contact them directly for a fundraising pack.

Q. Will there be a photographer on the day?

A. Yes, you will be able to purchase your official race photographs.

Q. Can I run in fancy dress?

A.  Running in fancy dress is welcomed, however if your outfit is likely to impede other runners please contact info@frontrunnerevents.co.uk
