Kidney Wales launch virtual fundraising event
Kidney Wales has made the difficult decision to cancel the 10K and 2K Fun Run on its 35th anniversary in the best interests of health and safety for our runners, spectators, volunteers and staff.
We really wanted to do something to celebrate this fantastic milestone. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been working hard with our race partners to come up with a solution that can comply with government restrictions.
We’re really pleased to launch our virtual celebration 10K and 2K Fun run event, where we’re asking runners/families both of old and new to sign up, and donate to the vital work of Kidney Wales during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Many of us are making sure we take the time to exercise, in order to protect our health and wellbeing. For the established runners amongst us, the daily run has become our much needed one constant. For those of us that are absolute beginners or maybe returning after hanging up our running shoes, we’re enjoying building up our fitness, and stamina and starting to recognise/remember the positive impact running can have on both our wellbeing and mental health.
How taking part will support vulnerable patients in Wales? The Virtual 10K and 2K will be a key vehicle for you to support us in our work supporting families and changing lives of those affected by Chronic Kidney Disease. In light of the current easing of restrictions for shielded patients who are at high risk of developing Covid-19 which includes those living with Chronic Kidney Disease, we are committed to assisting our patients throughout this period by sharing guidance, key information, and healthcare advice through our closed Kidney Wales Community Facebook Group. We are also currently funding the purchase of re-usable face coverings for patients and their families. Your entry fee will help us bring this project to life for our patients, providing face coverings for the most vulnerable to use whilst attending their regular clinical appointments / dialysis sessions or enjoying their daily exercise. Please support this vital campaign if you can.
All runners who choose to take part will receive a downloadable PDF bib to complete their run, and a downloadable PDF medal for taking part. Most importantly will be making a difference to the lives of so many.
Runners who donated their 2020 race entry fee to Kidney Wales please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
