The Team Challenge
Team spirit. Friendly competition. All round fun.
We would like to thank all the teams that took part in this year’s Cardiff 10K Team Challenge. 2016 saw a record number of over 250 teams take to the start line to compete for the Team Challenge winners awards.
This year’s winners were the Royal Navy for a second year running, with General Dynamics UK taking home the first runners up trophy and Cwm Ogwr Runners and Legal & General taking 3rd and 4th place.
More teams returned this year to compete for the top spot in the late summer sunshine including Astutis, who could be seen in their hot pink t-shirts for their 5th year running the Cardiff 10K, having raised over £11,000 for Kidney Wales in that time. Eurobond Doors, lead by Team Captain, Ricci Watts were great contenders and Vectos were back again to inject some pace into the run, with Clara Evans crossing the line in under 35 minutes. Local surgeon, Elijah Ablorsu brought the Transplant Team with over 40 runners this year banding together to run and fundraise for Kidney Wales. We also welcomed newcomers DECIPHer and YMCA Housing Association to the Team Challenge and the family of Kidney Wales supporters.
The Cardiff 10K Team Challenge will be back next year. We hope to see all the teams from this year’s race return for more friendly competition and team spirit and we welcome more teams to join in the fun. If you have a team of work colleagues or a group of friends and family willing to support race organisers Kidney Wales, then why not sign up as a team and try for next year’s Winner’s Trophy.
What you need:
- Four to six runners per team
- One Team Captain
- Bags of enthusiasm
The Cardiff 10K Team Challenge remains to be a roaring success enjoyed by many companies throughout Wales and the South West of England.
For Corporate Teams, it’s a chance to bring work colleagues together for team building and strengthening friendships as well as encouraging a little competitive spirit.
Our Community Team entries also allow non-corporate teams of 4-6 runners to compete for the Team Challenge Trophy. Community Teams also fundraise through sponsorship to support the Kidney Wales Foundation.
The Team challenge is open to all abilities and aims to bring people together for a sense of team spirit and to enjoy our fun summer race through the Capital.
