Brecon Carreg support 30 years of running in the Capital

It has been confirmed that Brecon Carreg will be a key sponsor of the Cardiff 10k, the iconic city centre road race, which takes place on Sunday 6th September.

Brecon Carreg source and bottle its water in the breath-taking Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales. It is the first year that the iconic Welsh water brand has been involved with the running event.

Organised by leading Welsh charity, Kidney Wales, the Cardiff 10k is one of the top ten road races in the UK, attracting thousands of runners who take on the scenic city centre course. This year’s race will take place on Sunday September 6th, with the main 10k event commencing at 10.00am and the 2K family run starting at 9.15am.

The Cardiff 10k attracts a nationally recognized field of elite athletes, as well as approximately 5,000 non-professional runners, who run for good causes across Wales. The fast paced race, which this year celebrates its thirtieth anniversary, is expected to be the biggest event yet, and has been backed by Kidney Wales patron and BT Sports presenter, Sarra Elgan.

Roy J. Thomas, Chairman of Kidney Wales, who organise the Cardiff 10k said of Brecon Carreg’s involvement: “Great Welsh brands such as Brecon Carreg, bring value to the society we live in and actively promote a healthy lifestyle, and we cannot thank them enough; their support is truly invaluable.”

A spokesperson for Brecon Carreg said: “Brecon Carreg is thrilled to support this year’s Cardiff 10k in providing 10,000 bottles of water. Kidney Wales supports its patients by providing life-saving dialysis treatment and the level of finance required to do so is huge, so we are thrilled to do our bit in supporting a well orgnaised event, committed to its runners and supporters.”

Last year’s Cardiff 10k saw a record entry number of runners take part, who raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for Welsh charities.

Registration for the 2015 Cardiff 10k event is now open and people of all ages and abilities are being urged to get involved with the iconic run.
